Verity grew up in North Yorkshire and moved to London to train as an actor at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art). In between working as an actor, she began working at various SEN schools as a teaching assistant, where she gained a large amount of experience working with students of all range of ages and abilities. Having done this for several years, she has since branched out into tutoring. She has a passion for literature and poetry, so loves tutoring English in particular. Due to her experience in special needs schools, she most enjoys tutoring young people who find the expectations of the national curriculum frustrating. Verity loves finding a way to engage and support every student to fulfil their full capabilities, and one of her main aims when tutoring is to instill confidence. She has experience working with large groups of children, as well as one to one.
“My children have been tutored by a wonderful young woman for about 6 months now. They both have SEN and Verity has been a Godsend. She is professional, but great fun and incredibly gifted in nurturing and drawing out strengths in my children both academically and interpersonally. They both had such low self-esteem about their academic abilities before the tutoring started, but that has improved for both of them significantly.”
